Professional Disc Brake Caliper Piston Compressor Tool

The W40705 Brake Caliper Piston Press (disc brake pad spreader / caliper rewind tool) is a professional brake service tool designed to push caliper pistons back into their bores when fitting new brake pads.

Product Overview

The W40705 Brake Caliper Piston Press (disc brake pad spreader / caliper rewind tool) is a professional brake service tool designed to push caliper pistons back into their bores when fitting new brake pads.

Built from high-grade forged alloy steel and heat-treated for rigidity, the frame resists flexing and the forcing screw stays straight under the high loads required to retract a seized piston. With a 0-65 mm compression range, it covers the front and rear calipers of most passenger cars, SUVs and light commercial vehicles. The screw features a 1/2″ DR square drive (21 mm), so it can be turned by the supplied T-bar handle or driven directly with a 1/2″ ratchet, extension bar, electric or air wrench for faster, smoother operation.

The wide, flat pressure plate distributes force evenly across the piston face, preventing cocking, scoring of the piston or damage to the dust boot — making it an essential tool for every brake pad replacement job.

Key Features

  • Forged High-Grade Alloy Steel — One-piece forged frame, high rigidity, will not bend in long-term use

FAQ

Q1: What is your MOQ?
A: 1 carton (24 pcs) for stock items; 500 pcs for custom-logo orders.

Q2: What does 0-65 mm mean, and which vehicles does it fit?
A: 0-65 mm is the maximum opening (working range) of the tool. It suits the front and rear calipers of most passenger cars, SUVs and pickups. For unusual calipers, send us the caliper thickness and piston diameter and we will confirm compatibility.

Q3: Can it be used on rear calipers with an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB)?
A: Usually not directly. Most EPB rear calipers use screw-in (rotating) pistons that must be turned while being pushed, requiring a dedicated brake caliper rewind tool (available in our range). The EPB must also be set to service mode with a diagnostic scanner first.

Q4: What does 1/2″ DR square hole mean?
A: The top of the forcing screw has a 1/2-inch (21 mm) square drive socket, so you can use a 1/2″ ratchet, extension bar, air or electric wrench — or the supplied T-bar handle for manual operation.

Q5: Can I use an air impact wrench?
A: It accepts 1/2″ drive tools, but we recommend a low-impact, speed-controlled electric wrench applied slowly and evenly. High-torque impact guns can cock the piston or damage the screw threads.

Q6: Why must the brake fluid reservoir cap be opened first?
A: Retracting the piston pushes fluid back into the reservoir. If the system is sealed, the pressure spike can damage brake lines, seals or the ABS module, or cause fluid to spray from the reservoir.

Q7: Is the material really alloy steel? Can it be verified?
A: Yes — high-grade alloy structural steel, forged and heat-treated. Material certificates or third-party (SGS/BV) testing can be arranged.

Q8: Can you add our brand logo?
A: Yes. Laser engraving, steel stamping, silk-screen printing and custom paint colors are available, along with blister hang cards, color boxes, manuals and barcodes for retail display.

Q9: What is your lead time?
A: 7-15 days for stock orders; approximately 30-45 days for OEM orders depending on quantity and packaging.

Q10: What payment terms do you accept?
A: T/T (30% deposit + 70% balance), L/C at sight, Trade Assurance, Western Union, and PayPal for small sample orders.

Q11: Can you send a sample first?
A: Yes. Sample charges are refundable against a bulk order; freight is at the buyer’s cost.

Q12: How is it packed? Can packaging be changed?
A: Standard packing is 1 pc per box, 24 pcs per export carton. Blister hang cards, color boxes or blow-molded cases are available on request.

Q13: How should it be maintained?
A: Wipe off brake fluid and dust after use (brake fluid attacks coatings, so clean promptly), grease the screw threads and store in a dry place. Before each use, check the screw for bending, the threads for stripping and the pressure plate for deformation.
